Why PJ’s Coffee is Breaking Ground in North Carolina for Franchise Expansion
By: PJ's CoffeeOur commitment to expanding PJ’s Coffee’s reach beyond our home state of Louisiana drives us to seek new horizons. For our next chapter in flavor and hospitality, we’ve pinned down our next foray into North Carolina. Over the next few years, we plan to introduce ten new locations in the vibrant state in markets like Raleigh/Durham and Charlotte.
Shared Values and Culinary Appreciation
So, why is the Tar Heel state a perfect fit for the latest PJ’s Coffee franchises? With North Carolina and Louisiana in the south, the answer lies in the shared values and appreciation of warm hospitality, a slower pace of life in some aspects, and a love for traditional Southern cuisine. Plus, visitors will often find a welcoming atmosphere and friendliness in both states. North Carolinians inherently have a palate primed to appreciate the unique, bold flavors of New Orleans through PJ’s Coffee.
Louisiana and North Carolina have distinct business environments that have been shaped by their geographical location, historical background and industrial landscape. Despite their differences, both states share common traits that contribute to their economic growth and development — a diverse range of industries, entrepreneurship, a culture of innovation and a strong commitment to creating a supportive business environment that fosters success.
Embracing Coffee Culture Beyond The Triangle
In 2023, both Raleigh and Durham were considered two of the top 100 “Best Coffee Cities in America.” With the Triangle experiencing rapid post-pandemic growth, combined with Charlotte’s metropolitan area growing expeditiously, PJ’s franchisees can expect an even greater influx of coffee lovers in the area.
However, this is just the beginning for the state of North Carolina. Between the size of Charlotte and its booming population, it is likely that PJ’s will see an expansion in the region that could outnumber the over 40 locations in the Greater New Orleans market.
“Our venture into North Carolina represents an exciting opportunity to share the authentic taste of New Orleans with this great state,” said PJ’s Executive VP and Chief Development Officer David Mesa. “As we continue to spread our footprint across the nation, the Southeast holds a special place in our hearts due to the region’s deep affinity for the culture that we bring and represent.”
Whether serving a bustling city full of coffee fanatics or a suburban community with room for growth, we believe these markets offer PJ’s a playing field to cultivate a greater following in the region.
North Carolina will mark the 15th state where PJ’s Coffee has established its presence. The five Raleigh and Durham franchises are just the beginning of our journey as we venture into new territories and plan to expand into Charlotte with another five locations.
