Soul of New Orleans Fuels Opportunities for Veteran Franchisees

By: PJ's Coffee

Category:Franchise Opportunities

At PJ's Coffee, we make it our mission to honor and acknowledge the immense sacrifices made by our nation's heroes. We are committed to showing them the respect and gratitude they truly deserve, and we take great pride in doing so. In addition to offering veterans a 20% discount on the franchise fee, PJ’s is honored to host our annual Veteran Franchise License Giveaway for the seventh year in a row.

As a proud member of the International Franchise Association’s VetFran program, PJ’s Coffee recognizes that former military members make some of the best and most successful franchisees, as they possess exceptional qualifications and skills. In fact, we are constantly amazed by our current veteran franchisees and recipients of this giveaway for their passion, dedication and success.

Brewing Small Business Entrepreneurs

Known for our small-batch roasted coffee, beignets and southern hospitality, we strive to brew small business opportunities for veterans seeking to join the $100 billion coffee industry. Since kicking off our franchise license giveaway, veterans who joined the PJ’s family have shined bright in every aspect with strong leadership skills, teamwork, processes and goals.

Previous winners:

  • Kyle McElhaney (U.S. Army) and his wife, Jennifer, in Memphis, Tennessee were awarded a license last year.
  • Bobby Mounts (U.S. Marines) and his wife, Kristy, from Ruston, Louisiana, have become award-winning top performers in the system and are in the process of developing their second location.
  • Michael Adams (U.S. Army) served in the military for 22 years and was the third recipient of the giveaway.
  • Angela Harmon (U.S. Air Force), a former pilot, was in the fifth class of women who entered the Air Force Academy and had the honor of flying as a T38 instructor — the fastest airplane you could fly at the time. Charmed by our recognition as a family-oriented company and franchise support, Angela and her wife, Denise, look forward to giving back to their community.

A shot at PJ’s Coffee

PJ’s looks forward to our Veteran Franchise License Giveaway every year for the chance to welcome another passionate person to join our family. It is a privilege to work with our franchisees from the very beginning of their new journey with us and provide continuous support to set them up for success.

In addition to meeting financial requirements, U.S. military veteran applicants must fill out an inquiry form and submit a video between 1-2 minutes long about how their military experience will make them a hard-charging PJ’s franchisee. The video must be emailed to frandevcoordinator@ballardbrands.com, and the last day to enter will be Monday, Sept. 4 — Labor Day.

In a true celebratory manner, the winner will be announced on Saturday, Nov. 11 — Veterans Day — and the $35,000 franchise fee will be waived. To learn more about PJ’s Coffee and franchise opportunities for veterans, visit www.pjsfranchise.com/why-us/veterans.

  • PJs has provided me with the flexibility to prioritize my day-to-day responsibilities. While demanding, the work/life balance I have been able to obtain while owning my locations is invaluable. PJ’s is a family-oriented brand and that is evident every day - we have great working, as well as personal, relationships with many folks at corporate. It truly is a family centered culture that I am excited to grow with! - Andrew Jones
  • We loved the products and the business model, and it all worked out so well. The ability to work with them is what sets them apart. They are very reasonable people and it’s a solid company. When we went to meet the team, everyone was super kind, and it was very apparent that they provide a ton of support to their franchisees. It’s important to feel like you can always reach out to somebody when needed. - Angela Harmon
  • I think if someone is looking for a franchise opportunity they should find something that fits their lifestyle. If you're a morning person, a coffee business might be good for you. I'm a morning person so waking up at 4 A.M. is fine, the whole 'wake up and smell the coffee' thing - that's me. - Anthony Satterlee
  • I decided to look into coffee and probably spent about 3 years doing the investigation. I decided on PJ's because the quality of the product is just head and shoulders above everybody else. - Tom Lewis
  • It's easy to be successful. You can become part of your community in a way you can't otherwise in a lot of other businesses. I would highly recommend it. - Polly Fisher
  • The best part of being a franchisee is the freedom. It gives you the opportunity to provide for your family, but also be a part of your family. It gives you time to play with your children or take a vacation, but still have a fantastic business. - Kelly Songy
  • I decided owning a PJ's Coffee shop was the way to go. From start to finish, corporate was there for me when I selected a location, ordered equipment and furniture. - Mateusz Dabrowski
  • I fell in love with PJs Coffee and the brand, years before I ever owned a location and now I own two! I wanted a business that, with the right staff, would be able to operate successfully without me having to be there all day every day. PJs coffee gives you that flexibility and freedom. I also love the family atmosphere that corporate provides and the camaraderie between franchisees is wonderful! You are in business for yourself, but not by yourself, and that is a great sense of comfort and security. I love this business! - Roxanne DeNicola
  • It's just centered around fun, community, it's coffee, it brings people together in good times and bad times ... It was such a community-oriented love of coffee and we were able to take care of our home city. - Donna Miller
